Initial casting has been announced for the 2009 Lyrics & Lyricists season at the 92nd Street Y, the first season under the guidance of new artistic director Deborah Grace Winer.
Q: If you had song lyrics that you had written and you wanted someone to publish them, who would you send it to, to see if it was good enough to be published, and what would you do to protect your work so no one else could steal it?
Here are the lyrics to Canary Wolf’s “Credit Crunch.” Forget climate change, the price of petrol and starvation, There’s a new fear sweeping the nation
Expenses of a simple band
Brothers of device trembler who are well
In this ground far Western
I met a pleasant and pensive girl,
Expenses of a simple band
Brothers of device trembler who are well
In this ground far Western.
I spoke to him about the terrestrial love,
He answered with a sigh;
I sought to know the hidden truth,
And asked the reason why
He would prefer the lifespan of a device trembler,
Liking although it could be,
With work in the free world and large,
In conformity and to release,
With functions of family courting it,
And babies on his knee?
It reddened a trifle, and seemed timid,
With allowed the truth was flat,
That if somebody never comes
And to seek its love again,
It, with all its affectionate heart,
To accept its hand profferred,
And to leave him the friends of device trembler with him,
For any area or ground;
But that it doubted that the love
He in the past professed was o’ er,
And that it has fears that it for it
At summer extinguished for always;
And thus he guessed that he return of better
At its house calms device trembler,
And to limit the feelings of its heart,
And never not to seek to wander.
Girl of device trembler of O, pauses, I request,
Of serious thought of catch more,
Nor to remain burning desires of your heart,
With nature sky-born charged
The functions there are on each side,
Awaiting the hands laid out,
All without restriction, unlimited
By any faith or grounds.
The soft close relationships of the house are holier far,
Truer spontaneous acts,
That any work of device trembler ordered
So that the man fights through.

Joey Fatone is giving Dayna the ultimate test - singing the lyrics to the best ’80s songs on "The Singing Bee!" How did she do?
Numa Numa video with mishead lyrics that sound insane.
Edit: I know that the song is actually Romanian, that’s why it says “MISHEARD” in the title. I make no claim that these are the actual lyrics, so stop telling me that I’m stupid, because I know they’re false. If you can’t understand that the words I have written just ’sound’ like the actual lyrics then acquire a sense of humor!

I noticed that there are a lot of videos that poke fun at songs with incomprehensible lyrics. This one targets “Rammstein” by Rammstein. (Okay, it’s in German, but to a person who doesn’t speak German, it might as well be Greek.) Enjoy!
I’ve recently heard two brand new singles from respected alternative rock artists that have me questioning whether lyrics are really all that important in rock …

The singer-songwriter is an interesting breed of musician. Modern musicians share the genre with the greats like Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan. Singer-songwriters have their lives showcased constantly in personal lyrics and heart-wrenching melodies. It’s an accomplishment to achieve success in such a field at a young age.
Plenty of groups have started as party-hearty types before decending into morose shoegazing, but maybe the married couple who comprise Raleigh, N.C.s Rosebuds just took a while to catch their songwriting up to their lyrics.

When B L A C K I E showed up on the local indie-rock and underground-rap scenes, Houston was pretty impressed. The MC/producer born Michael LaCour twists the laws of the metronome into abstract beats to back his equally oddly timed lyrics. The formula is impressive and different, and LaCour’s live p …
“As we stroll along together Holding hands and walking all alone So in love are we two That we don’t know what to do” Recognize those lyrics? They’re from ‘So much in love’ by The Tymes, a chart topper and million-seller record in 1963. If you’re my age or older, you might also remember “You Little Trust Maker” and “Ms. Grace” by the same group.

Sunday nights during my late teens were spent at Griff’s Karaoke in the Ram’s Head pub. Whatever song we chose, and it was invariably by Take That, Griff would commend us for giving our all to “a hard song to sing”, and we would retreat to our vodka and limes wondering how to improve when we only got one shot a week at karaoke superstardom. With its shared mics and highlighted lyrics, karaoke …
